Remote Media launch new RoomSign at University of
Portsmouth’s Purple Door.
Requirement
The University of Portsmouth commissioned the
construction of a new state of the art building with
a section dedicated to the Purple Door. Within this
section Purple Door wanted to create a modern
contemporary look comprising of an array of
interesting fixtures and fittings with the addition of
Digital Signage.
Solution
Remote Media were appointed to provide small
LCD displays to be mounted next to each meeting
room providing information to visitors about the
details of the meeting that is going on at that
particular time and to also indicate whether the
meeting room was free. The final solution
comprised of:
- 8.4" RoomSign - Comprising of a 400 c/dm
LCD screen with integrated full screen web
browser housed within in a 40mm deep "back
box" that enables the units to
be recessed into a wall. Once set back and
power and comms are put in place a brushed
steel bezel is attached to create an attractive
finish.
- RoomSign Server Software - Creating the link
between the University’s in house meeting
room booking system and the RoomSigns.
Remote Media’s RoomSigns are available in 8.4"
and 10.4" with optional touch-screen and Power
Over Ethernet. Running on an embedded Windows
CE operating system these versatile displays
support full colour 640x480 resolution. The
RoomSign is an ideal interface for webserver based
applications.
